About the Swingin' Wildcats:

The jazz band is one of the most successful programs at Brea Olinda high school.  They have won numerous festival and have competed both on the regional and national levels; earning numerous gold ratings at the Heritage Music Festivals.  

Amongst their many accomplishments, the Swingin' Wildcats are also the most traveled group in the Instrumental Music Program.  Each year the jazz band strives to compete in a Sate-wide or National music festival.  The jazz band has competed in several places in the United Sates, including  Dallas, San Antonio, San Francisco, and Seattle. The jazz band has also had the honor of performing with professional musicians Wayne Bergeron and Ernie Watts.

December 15 - Evening of the Arts Concert, Call time 5:45pm
December 16 - Evening of the Arts Assemblies, Periods 0-4
February 25 - Western States Jazz Festival @ Upland HS
March 9 - BJH Spring Concert, Call time TBA
March 18 - Irvine Jazz Festival
May 11 - Spring Concert Dress Rehearsal, 3-7
May 12 - Spring Concert, Call time 5:45pm


Required Materials:

All alto sax players will need to purchase a Eugene Rousseau JDX5 Mouthpiece, and a Rovner Dark 1RL Ligature.  Questions regarding these items should be directed to Mr. Bartell immediately!!

All tenor sax players will need to purchase a Eugene Rousseau  JDX 5 mouthpiece and a Rovner Dark 2R Ligature.  Questions regarding these items should be directed to Mr. Bartell immediately!!
